# Create Article Category

POST https://api.gorilladash.com/api/v1/website-content/article-categories
Content-Type: application/json

Creates a article category. Needs a key with **Website Content: Read and Write** (`website-content:write`).

| Field | Type | Rules |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `slug` | string | Required, max 255, `^[A-Za-z0-9]+(?:[-_][A-Za-z0-9]+)*$`. Unique within the organisation. |
| `name` | string | Required, max 255. |
| `heading` | string\|null | Max 255. |
| `caption` | string\|null | Max 5000. |

If a article category with the same **slug** already exists, this returns **422**. Use **Upsert Article Category** when you do not know whether it exists.
