# Create Article

POST https://api.gorilladash.com/api/v1/website-content/articles
Content-Type: application/json

Creates a article. Needs a key with **Website Content: Read and Write** (`website-content:write`).

| `slug` | string | Required, max 255, letters and digits separated by `-`, `_`, `.` or `~`. |
| `heading` | string | Required, max 255. |
| `sub_heading`, `author` | string\|null | Max 255. |
| `abstract` | string\|null | Max 5000. |
| `html` | string\|null | The article body, max 1,000,000. |
| `status` | string | `Published` (the default for a new article) or `Draft`. |
| `published_at` | date-time\|null | The date the website shows and sorts by. Defaults to now on create. |
| `meta_title` | string\|null | Max 255. |
| `meta_description` | string\|null | Max 1000. |
| `no_index` | boolean | |
| `categories` | string[] | Up to 50 category **slugs**, which must already exist. Sending the list replaces the article's categories; `[]` removes them all. |
| `media_id` | integer\|null | An image in this organisation's media library. Sets the banner and the card image; `null` removes it. |

If a article with the same **slug** already exists, this returns **422**. Use **Upsert Article** when you do not know whether it exists.
